Pointillist Painting - Carousel Horse

Title: A Pointillism Pony
Size: 12 by 9 inches
This unfinished piece portrays a merry-go-round in the pointillist style. For this painting I applied oils using an old pencil eraser.

I have to admit, this piece turned out better than I expected. I was sick for the better part of this last week, so I wasn't able to pour in quite as much time on this as I would have liked, but it actually looks sort of like a horse. Hooray!

This was my first try at straight up pointillism, and I feel like it's been a success. :)

  2. I think it's interesting that you decided to leave the horses white while the rest you added color to. It made a really cool effect and design.

  3. I like the idea behind it, but I think that it had too much white space. I think you could have tried a light grey instead of the white.

  5. This is very interesting and I think it will look really good when you are finished with it. I would suggest adding white and different shades of grey to the horse and dark blues to the top. Good start!

  7. This is interesting! I like the idea you chose very unique. The only thing that I would suggest is that you need to put more dots and outline it so we can tell what it is exactly. Good job though really good work. Can't wait to see more from you :D

  8. I really like the image you did i kinda think it would look a lot better if you would have put white in and so it would have covered up the pencil markings.

  9. The bright colors really work for the pointillist piece. It does need a little more definition though.
