Van Gogh Inspired Watercolor - Colorful Mushrooms

Title: Colorful Mushrooms
Size: 6 by 8 inches
This piece shows my attempts to explore Van Gogh's while painting mushrooms. This piece is done in watercolor with a bit of silver sharpie in places.

This piece was pretty fun to do, as I don't normally textures or colors like this. I also got to play with keeping the edge of the painting from the edge of the paper. I'm not really sure what else I can say. Painting, mushrooms, texture. That's this piece. :)

  4. I love this painting! The mushrooms are easily identifiable and their colors look amazing. The dark background of it really frames and complements the brighter colors well. :)

  5. The colors are amazing. I think that making the mushrooms such bright colors really helped to make them stand out more, as did making them different shapes. I also liked how you gave the ground such an amazing texture.

  6. I am clearly not the first one to tell you this, but I absolutely love this piece. The way you chose to center the image without clear borders really enhanced the focus to the subject of the painting. Great job!

  14. I really like this painting. I don't remember Van Gogh painting anything like this, but it's really good. I like the colors, and there is some detail in the background too. I can't really think of anything you could improve on it.

  15. This is absolutely gorgeous! You got the Van Gogh brush stroke style pretty on point, though it's not something you'd see him paint. The contrast of the colors you chose really makes the painting visually appealing and the earthy colors go nicely, as well. Fantastic work!

  16. Your brush technique is really quite fantastic in this painting, and you're also very organized in terms of spacing everything out. Each object is clearly defined and looks as though it has a purpose in the painting, and I feel that that is a great skill to have. I also love the fadeout that you have going on the edges of the painting, rather than bringing it all the way to the edge. It just generally reminds me of a painting you'd see on a pot in someone's garden, or maybe even a stained glass piece. Great job in terms of color coordination as well. All in all, a great piece.

  18. This show's quite a bit color combo. I like how the green is mixed in, but it's not bled through. That is very impressive, and it looks very genuine, almost.
